Police cited as major human rights abuser

The Uganda Human Rights Commission has outlined several abuses against members of the public during the current 42 day lockdown.

These include the charging of exorbitant prices by private health facilities treating covid-19 as well as the torture of suspects, some of whom are bail.

The commission wants the police to closely monitor its officers who enforce the covid-19 guidelines to ensure that they comply with human rights standards.
