Tunisian president replies to coup critiques: 'I have followed the constitution'

Tunisia is facing its worst crisis in 10 years of democracy after President Kais Saied dismissed Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi and suspended parliament

The president imposed a nationwide, night-time curfew for a month and deployed the army to man the streets.

Saied says "the most danger a nation can face is internal explosion" and that he is following the constitution.

The UN is calling on authorities in Tunisia to allow journalists to do their work after police took over Al Jazeera's bureau in Tunis on Monday.

Al Jazeera's Laura Burdon-Manley reports.
