Heavily laden Eugen Maersk arrives and swings to starboard for Felixstowe Berth 8. 19th August 2021

Eugen Maersk is the last one to built in the Maersk E Class vessels. She's had an eventful life with fires and other incidents.

As the Eugen Maersk heads towards Felixstowe, she had a maximum draught of 15.6 metre from her last port of Colombo. The Harwich Haven pilot boards at the Sunk around 07:15 for the inward journey. Once onboard the pilot radios Harwich VTS for the latest on the tide and wind on the Landguard. VTS replies that there was enough water for their arrival so they proceeded in. After a few minutes, the pilot requests three tugs for berthing, first 7&8 to make fast centre lead aft, second at the Platters to escort on starboard quarter and then make fast and the third inside the harbour bow to bow.

Slowly the Eugen Maersk appears on the horizon as she passes the South Shipwash towards the harbour. The Svitzer Shotley breaks away from the tug pontoon to be the starboard quarter tug. Shortly followed by the Svitzer Kent which was breaking away once the Shotley was clear.
