After winning the 74th annual Hunger Games, Katniss and Peeta return home to District 12. However, their act of defiance against the Capitol has inspired many revolutions throughout the districts. President Snow is angry and wants to eliminate Katniss. He announces that for the next Hunger Games, the tributes will be reaped from the existing pool of victors. Katniss is District 12’s only living female winner, so this means that she will have to participate in the Hunger Games again by default.
