In this clip, we talk with Cameron Barke about why people have low trust in government and what is the main reason for that?
One of the main issues today in North America is declining levels of trust in the country. According to research that was done in 2019, and continued to this day with everything that has happened and is still happening, the level of trust American citizens have in the government, and in each other, is rapidly declining. When asked what are the reasons why they have declining trust in government, they listed government performance, which is lacking; some think that the government is focusing on the wrong things; a lot of citizens put the blame on corruption, saying that they believe that corporations control the political process, etc. When asked why do they have low trust in each other, the most common reason was their political orientation, whether they are a republican or a democrat. They just can't seem to see eye to eye, which makes it harder to trust. Next to that would be religion and religious conflicts.
But, we think that there is a scientific reason why this might be happening. In this clip, we try to explain why we believe that reason might be the main culprit.
