Quality of green leaf is the most important factor in production of quality tea. The finer the leaf quality, superior will be the tea produced from it. So, measurement of fine leaf percentage is an important activity in the factories so that they can find out the quality of raw materials. This technique of finding out the % of fine leaf from the plucked green leaves is developed by TRA, Jorhat and known as " Ballometric counting method"
