Australian Navy diverts ships north to reinforce Operation Sovereign borders

The Australian Navy has revealed it diverted ships and aircraft to Australia's north to reinforce Operation Sovereign borders.

This comes as the government made changes earlier this week to temporary protection visas - allowing permanent residency for legacy cases.

There are concerns this could see an increase in people smuggling attempts.
