Basic chord functions you should be able to hear. Test and train your harmonic perception

Each chord has a function in the context of a key, this is a role to play. Thus, in a key of C major, G major is the dominant (V), but in the key of D major, G major is the subdominant (IV), and so on..
That is why we often use roman number to represent functions and not the chord’s name itself that can be dominant in one key, tonic in another, subdominant in another and so on.
Here we train and test in the perception of these functions, so we don’t expect you to be able to tell if the chord you hear is a G major, an F major, etc. but if that is the I, V, IV, vi, ii or iii of the scale or key we are using. Understanding what effect each chord function causes is an experience that only you can perceive, is like colours, you have to see them by yourself to learn them. This is what we expect you to discover in this video.
It is important to know that the I is the tonic, V is the dominant, and IV is the subdominant.
I IV and V are major triads (upper case)
ii iii and vi are minor triads (lower case)

Practice this every day to achieve improvement.
