This is a Motormouth couple car comparison of the Audi SQ5 and Genesis GV70 compact luxury SUVs. The Genesis GV70 comes with two engines, the base engine is a 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 300 horsepower and 311 lb=ft of torque. We are going to be focusing on the more powerful 3.5L twin turbocharged V6 with 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. The Audi SQ5 has a 3L turbocharged V6 engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 349 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Both have standard AWD and premium fuel is required.The GV70 3.5T offers a modern, clean and contemporary interior. Genesis’ design philosophy is Athletic Elegance and you can see the elegance in this cabin. The base trim of the 3.5T has a 14.5” touchscreen, an 8” instrument display cluster, wireless charger, heated and ventilated front Nappa leather sport seats, a heated sport steering wheel, driver seat memory, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a head-up display and an 18-speaker Lexicon audio system. The top trim has the Nappa leather quilted seats and the 12.3” digital instrument cluster.
The SQ5 offers a touch of elegance, it’s modern interior is open and spacious with Nappa leather, diamond stitched seats, carbon fibre inlay, a standard 10.1” touchscreen and a 12.3” digital driver display. Our test model Progressiv trim has wireless Apple Carplay and wired Android Auto, heated front seats, power driver and passenger seats and driver seat memory. Moving up to the top Technik trim will get you features like heated rear seats, heated and cooled cup holders, a power adjustable steering column, wireless charger, a Bang & Olufsen sound system and a top view camera. You can add the Comfort Package for $800 CAD to get ventilated front seats and Hoxton leather contrast stitching. This will remove the diamond-stitched seats. The GV70 3.5T has more power than the SQ5. Its powerful 3.5L twin turbocharged V6 with an 8-speed automatic transmission has 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. The Audi SQ5 has a 3L turbocharged V6 engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 349 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Both come with standard AWD and require premium fuel. The GV70 offers less than half an inch more front legroom than the SQ5 but the Audi wins with half an inch more second row legroom. The Genesis offers more cargo space behind the 2nd row by over 2 cubic feet but the SQ5 wins for overall cargo capacity offering an extra 3.5 cubic feet more space. Both offer a lot of standard features and great value. The GV70 has a larger 14.5” touchscreen, the Audi a 10.1” touchscreen. The SQ5 comes with a standard 12.3” digital driver display, the Genesis an 8” instrument display. The larger 12.3” display is standard on the top GV70 trim. The Audi also comes with wireless Apple Carplay, it’s not available on the Genesis and the GV70 has standard ventilated front seats, this feature is available in a package on the Audi in Canada.
